The Bowery

The Bowery is a genuine Myrtle Beach landmark—an honky-tonk bar just steps from the ocean that has been slinging cold beer and live country music since 1944. This is where the band Alabama got its start as the house band back in the 1970s before going on to become one of country music’s biggest acts, and that legacy is still felt in the live music that fills the place nightly. The vibe is unpretentious and loud in the best way: think worn wood floors, cold longnecks, and a dance floor that fills up fast. The outdoor patio area is relaxed enough to bring your dog along for an early evening visit before the music really gets going. Open seasonally from March through October, with live entertainment Monday through Saturday starting around 8:30 PM. Go for the history, stay for the music—just don’t expect a quiet night.
